About Lynn

Linda MacElree (Lynn) is knowledgeable, tenacious, a formidable opponent and passionate about practicing family law. Lynn has been the head of her own boutique law firm concentrating in family law matters since 1987. After clerking for the Honorable Leonard Sugerman, Lynn has practiced for over 30 years, concentrating exclusively in the area of family law in Chester County.

Lynn has a straight-forward approach to cases.  In a divorce matter, after determining the marital  assets, her goal is to help find solutions to the division of assets and, if appropriate, Lynn will help work out an alimony solution. A negotiated divorce settlement that both clients can live with, although it may not have everything on each party’s wish list, is far better than an equitable distribution or alimony award imposed by a disinterested master or judge.

However, if a negotiated settlement cannot be achieved, Lynn is up to the task of complex litigation. Litigation requires preparation, planning, and an in-depth understanding of the issues and the law as well as knowledge of the parties, the opposing counsel and the fact finder. Lynn has 30 years of experience in family law.

Question: How important is it to have an experienced attorney who only practices in the area of family law?

In today’s complex and fast-paced world, an attorney can no longer be a general practitioner and practice well in all fields of the law, such as estates and trusts, elder law, criminal law, civil litigation, personal injury, tax law, business law and family law.

When interviewing attorneys for a family law case, select an attorney who concentrates in the area of family law only. For over 30 years Linda L. MacElree (Lynn) has concentrated only on the area of family law which includes divorce, spousal and child support, equitable distribution, alimony, custody, grandparents rights, custody relocation, post-nuptial, cohabitation and prenuptial agreements.

Lynn has been past Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Chester County Family Law Section for two different terms. She has put on various educational seminars for the Chester County Bar Association and for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, which is the statewide organization of family lawyers. Linda confines her family law practice to only Chester County. She has been named in 2009 and 2010 to Main Line Magazine’s Best Lawyers for divorce and family law.
